Maggie K. Burkhead, MD

Dr. Burkhead received her BA from Boston College and started her career as a school teacher before being called to enter medicine.  She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  Following medical school she served as a U.S. Navy physician attaining the rank of Lt. Commander.  After five years of military service, Maggie attended Duke University and the University of North Carolina, where she completed her residency.  She never lost her love for teaching and before joining Raleigh Family Practice was a clinical instructor in Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina.

Maggie grew up in upstate New York where her parents still live.  She and her husband Scott live in Raleigh.  She enjoys running with her dog Rufus, spending time with family and friends, and playing the harp.
